Our Story

Meet The Team
Eshe Christie
Chairperson
Hey, I'm Eshe, proudly serving as the Chairperson for the Goldfields Football League. My journey into the world of football began as the trainer for the Kalgoorlie City Football Club, a role that ignited not only my professional growth but also my deep passion for the sport.
Football has become a family affair for me, with both my partner Alex and I playing in the reserves and womens comp as well as our kids diving into the excitement of Auskick. As our family's love for the game grew, so did my commitment to expanding opportunities within the football community.
In a defining moment, I played a pivotal role in establishing the first women's football team at KCFC. This experience fueled my determination to contribute further, leading me to join the Goldfields Football League Commission in 2019, where I took charge of the female football portfolio.
Under my guidance over the last three seasons, our league has witnessed remarkable growth in women's football. All five senior clubs now proudly host women's teams, a testament to the league's commitment to inclusivity and diversity. We achieved milestones like organizing the first regional youth girls representative games, nurturing talent through our GFLW development squad, and sending our senior women's teams to the Country Championships for the second consecutive year.
For me, football is more than a game; it's a platform for building connections, fostering teamwork, and creating a sense of belonging. As we continue to shape the Goldfields Football League, my focus remains on ensuring that everyone, from the youngest Auskickers to seasoned senior players, has the opportunity to thrive and enjoy the sport we all love.
I invite you to be part of this incredible journey where passion, family, and community intersect on the field. Together, let's continue to make football in the Goldfields not just a game but a source of inspiration, growth, and lasting memories
Amanda Barker
Secretary
My love for football came from attending WAFL matches before I could walk. My father supported West Perth, my grandfather Perth, but me, much to the disgust of my family, supported East Fremantle and anyone who played against Swan Districts! After living in Adelaide for 16 years, my undying allegiance is to Norwood Football Club in the SANFL. AFL, I love the Dockers, supported them since their inception in ’94.
I love grass roots footy; I love watching up and coming talent, and those ending their careers providing great knowledge to those around them. I enjoy watching passionate coaches and their runners feeding information to their charges. I relish watching umpires the most, the hardest position on the field. I’ve field and boundary umpired, but never got to have a go at goals…perhaps one day.
I have no allegiance to any club within the GFL, I just enjoy watching live footy and look forward to watching Goldfield’s talent on show.
The role of GFL Secretary will allow me to show my strengths of operations and administration. I look forward to meeting many more people with the same passion for footy, and always enjoy a good banter with West Coast Eagles fans
Shane Barker
Commssioner- general
Quite simply - I Love Football.
My football journey was quite late (started during my senior year at high school) and I played some form of footy for 15 years across SA, QLD and WA. As a footballer I was simply terrible but I loved the feel of the leather in my hands and the friendships around me. During my playing days and beyond I have worked to give back to the game I love by, at various times, being a club committee member, social club chair, Club President, water deliverer, coach, organising committee for a new league in the NT (BAFL), captain and umpire.
In terms of AFL allegiances - I don't barrick for any AFL club. Being from SA, I like to see the Crows win but if they don't that is OK. I also like to see Fremantle win, just to keep my wife happy. The team I passionately barrick for is in the SA state league (SANFL) - I will be a Norwood Football fanatic until the day I pass on. When it comes to the GFL, even though I have lived in Kalgoorlie for 14 years over the past 30 years, I have no allegiance to any club and am looking forward to be a part of a thriving GFL.
On a personal basis, I am married with 5 kids (all in SA) and I love to talk about most things but specifically football and wine. You will see me at the games and I welcome you to come over and say "G'day" .
Jessie Coad
Operations Manager- Seniors
Hello! I'm Jess and in April of 2023 I took over as the Operations Manager of the GFL.
I grew up around football- watching it, kicking the footy around with family and finally when I was in Year 9 I got the opportunity to play Youth Girls. I played a part in establishing and growing the GSFLW in Great Southern which gave me a lot of pride.
Myself and my family moved to Kalgoorlie in 2020, where I became acquainted with the Railways Football Club and established their Women's team. I sat on the Committee for 12 months and was intrigued when this role came up and thought I'd give it a go. I have extensive Admin & Football knowledge so I thought- why not combine the 2? I am so glad I did and I am thoroughly looking forward to the 2024 season and working alongside this passionate group of people who all have the same focus- and that is seeing football in the Goldfields grow & strive!
Please reach out if you need anything at all, and will see you at the footy!
Nicole Stevens
Operations Manager- Juniors
I'm Nicole and I have been an avid member of the local goldfields football community for over a decade with my three sons all playing.
After contributing at a committee level for Mines Rovers Football Club for the last 11 years I decided with my passion for junior football that I would try my hand at the Junior operations manager role.
In my past I have helped junior footballers, including my three sons, transition from junior to senior levels. My passion lies in facilitating a smooth transition for junior footballers embarking on their senior journey including being committed to nurturing the junior competition and am keen to help promote pathways for junior players, emphasizing skill development, mentorship, and a love for the game.
My goal is to foster a sustainable and enduring culture within junior football to ensure it remains a healthy and enjoyable experience for all participants
