Senior Women's Country Championships

Despite being a fairly new addition to the GFL, our female players have followed in the strong tradition of representing our great region with pride at the historic Country Championships each year. Kicking off in 2019, when the first carnival was held in Perth by Country Football WA, our proud Goldfields ladies attended under the guidance of Gemma Harrison making up a composite side along with players from Esperance. Our players were heading away to compete before our female football league had even been adopted

Since then, players headed away again in 2021 in a composite side with Esperance and in 2022 ,after seeing four of our senior football clubs establish senior womens football teams, the GFL took the reigns sending away our first ever GFLW Country Championship team under the guidance of Eshe Christie and head coach Brody Price.

In October each year, a squad of 25 dedicated players are selected from our now incredible FIVE senior womens teams to travel down to Mandurah to compete in an ever growing competition. This is alongside our passionate coaches and support crew that also volunteer their time. The country championships has grown into a 2 division, 8 team comp in 2023 with the GFL unfortunately not getting across the line to make it into Div 1.

Our ever growing Women's comp is continuously providing talented football players, making each year very different to the last in the way the team is built.

GFLW Development Squad

After first hand witnessing the raw talent our female footballers possess in the Goldfields and their passion at Country Championships our GFLW squad was created.

GFLW squad's aim is to further develop, challenge and grow our female footballers to excel in the sport both on and off the field.

The squad consists of players selected from 2 try outs as well as talent ID via games and coach recommendations.

The values held by players are:

- Dedication to training & their team

- Can do attitude demonstrating a passion for football

- Embrace a challenge

- Base level football skills including solid kicking and marking skills
